Lung Resection
Description:
Lung resection (pulmonary resection) is a surgery to remove part or all of a lung due to damage, disease, or to diagnose conditions. It is commonly performed using either minimally invasive techniques or open surgery.
Types of Lung Resection:
- Wedge Resection: Removal of a small wedge-shaped section.
- Segmentectomy: Removal of one or more segments within a lobe.
- Lobectomy: Removal of an entire lobe.
- Bilobectomy: Removal of two lobes (right lung).
- Pneumonectomy: Removal of the entire lung.
- Lung Volume Reduction: Removal of non-functioning air-trapped tissue.

- Lung cancer (Stage I, II, III)
- Metastatic cancer
- Benign tumors or nodules
- Bronchiectasis
- Emphysema
- Pulmonary infections or injuries

- ECG or stress tests
