Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
Department: Gynaecology
Estimated Cost : Rs6500 - Rs8500
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a specialized form of in vitro fertilization (IVF) that is particularly effective for treating male infertility. The procedure involves directly injecting a single sperm into an egg to increase the chances of fertilization, making it ideal for cases of severe male infertility or repeated IVF failures. ICSI is also commonly used for genetic testing of embryos or when working with frozen sperm or eggs.
Types of ICSI Techniques:
- PICSI: Uses hyaluronic acid binding to select the highest-quality sperm for injection, enhancing the chances of fertilization.
- IMSI: Involves selecting sperm with the best morphological integrity, improving outcomes, particularly in severe cases of male infertility.
- MACS: Separates healthy sperm from apoptotic (dying) sperm, improving the quality of sperm used in the ICSI procedure.
- Laser-Assisted Hatching: Helps embryos implant by creating small openings in the embryo's outer shell, often beneficial for women with previous IVF failures or those of advanced maternal age.
